  • "A dog led me to my customer’s door"

I pulled into my customer's driveway yesterday. They had one of those houses with the garage and driveway off to the side of the house,
  • so I had to walk around the corner to reach the front door. As I put my car in park, I looked up and saw a dog sitting
  • right where their front door path met the driveway, just staring at me. It was a pug, it looked exhausted but full of life at the same time,
  • like it still wanted to be hyper and run around the yard but just didn't have the energy. I wouldn't be surprised if it were an older dog.
  • It was wearing either a collar or a small harness, I don't remember specifically.
  • I got out with my hotbag and the dog approached me, it was breathing heavily and shaking its bat as its tail wasn't big enough to wag on its own.
  • I greeted it, "How you doing man?" | started walking on the sidewalk toward the door and it followed just behind me, huffing and puffing as I think
  • pugs tend to do. Once I was at the couple stairs to the porch, it jumped in front of me, as if to show me to the door.
  • My customer wanted their pizza left on a chair outside their door, and somehow this dog knew that. It stood in front of the chair and put its front paws on it

  • as if to show me where to set the order, like it knew the routine. I set it down and it began sniffing their box. "Sorry, that's not for you my friend."
  • I rang their doorbell, gave the dog a good head scratch, and started walking back to my car.
  • Just to keep up the excellent hospitality this household offered, the dog walked me back to my car. It stopped where it had been when I pulled in, watching me get in my car.
  • It did walk towards my car as I was trying to back out, so I had to put it in park until I saw it go further up the driveway.
  • I always get nervous with pets outside, I don't want to accidentally hit one. This dog just watched me drive away.
  • All in all, fantastic service. This dog will show you where you need to go and will walk you out to your car as well.
  • Super friendly too. Normally with dogs outside while I'm delivering food, they're barking at me or running at me, so I'm nervous to get any closer.
  • I've been bitten a few times too in my almost five years of food delivery. But this was the most well mannered dog I've come across.
  • If this house starts ordering more, maybe I'll carry some dog treats in my car to offer that pug in lieu of a tip.

  • CuriousBingo Did you leave little buddy a tip? Haunted House10273 OP I gave them a good head scratch before I left, but I guess that's as good a tip to them as a handshake is to me. If that house becomes a regular, I might keep some treats on me for the hospitality
  • MILeft My father had a pug in his retirement years, and it shadowed him until he did. My mother knew that if anything happened to my dad, Mr. Pugsley would be alerting her momentarily. Much more fun than carrying around a cellphone. We did call him "Mr. Pug, The Ugly Pug," but his devotion to my dad was priceless. RIP to all of those mentioned here.
  • Alice-in-blunderland My daughter went to a babysitter for awhile that lived around the corner from us. After work I would pick up my daughter and as we walked home, the sitter's dog would always walk with us until we got to the corner. Then it would stand there watching us until we got to our house, then the dog went back home OMGitsSEDDIE_ the sitter's dog is ALSO a babysitter, apparently →
  • downtown_gal My old pug use to love to lead people to his home. I had a housewarming party at my condo, the party was in the clubroom, and I would take small groups up to the condo. Every trip, my pug had to lead the group. I didn't realize until this post that it could be a pug thing.
  • Odd_Hospital7885 I usd to have a German shepherd that would escort and/or alert me when folks arrived. There was one time and one time only he wouldn't let someone come to my door. There was something off about him, so I never questioned my dogs instincts.
